Invisibility -> Attack -> Hide

To the OP, a Monster in combat can casually observe the Rogue... besides the Rogue would still need cover to initiate a Hide and being right behind the Monster is not enough.

Hope this helps,

That's TWO questions! Only 8 to go!

Again, what's up with the attitude Hong? Don't be afraid to respond. I promise I'll be more polite than you are.

Gentlemen:

I'll let you guys decide which of these statements is meant for which of you.

1. Do not derail threads. Rules threads get started for good reasons.
2. Do not take offense where none is intended.
3. On the off chance that offense was intended, this is not the place for it.
4. If the two of you are annoyed with one another, spend a moment thinking about what you've been doing that has annoyed the other person. Then ask yourself whether you'd be annoyed if someone was doing that to you. Then, if you would be, quit doing it to others.

Mmmm. Golden rule.

Am I being clear?

Invisibility -> Attack -> Hide

So a rogue with a ring of invisibility could go invisibile in round 1, then in round 2 make a sneak-attack and re-activate his ring OR attempt a HIDE in the same round right?

HIDE RULES- SRD
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/hide.htm
Round 2: Rogue becomes visible, attacks opponent. Assuming clear conditions, everyone on the battlefield now notices the rogue (he's not currently hiding, so they don't need a Spot check to see him, and he's engaged in battle, so they can hear him with a Listen check at a DC of -10).

At this point, and for the rest of the combat unless the opposition are particularly dense, he's being observed, probably more than casually. That means that even if he gains concealment or cover (the minimum requirement for any possibility of making a Hide check, barring certain class features), he still can't hide, as he's being observed.

That leaves him two options: Make a Bluff check (against heavy Sense Motive bonuses, given that stopping observing you will put your opponents in danger) using the Create a Diversion option, distracting your opponents so that you can attempt to hide (again, only if you have cover or concealment).

Or activate the Ring of Invisibility to become invisible.

However, either of these actions (Create a Diversion or Activate a Magic Item) requires a standard action to accomplish, and you don't have a standard action available, having just expended it to stab an opponent. Therefore, you'll need to wait for your next turn before attempting your disappearing act.
