Invisible Blade prereq's

Demoquin

First Post
The character must defeat a worthy opponent with nothing but his dagger(s).

How would you rate a worthy opponent? I have faced a druid single handedly with my rogue of the same level. Would i use the CR for the 'worthy' part. Or could you perhaps give some examples.

Rog 4 vs Druid 4

Ill take the IB class at lvl 7 provided i have met the requirement.

It's "whatever your DM deems worhty". Another character with the same CR as you, that wasn't at a disadvantage (like a druid out of spells), should be worthy.

They way that's written, it IS a judgement call by the DM. Pure and simple. There are no game rules that specify what is a "worthy opponent"

As for opinions:
Single combat against a thing of your CR or higher that isn't at a big disadvantage (like a spellcaster low on spells, or a critter with NPC class levels, or something which has already taken damage, or in an area where it's not at it's peak (e.g., a crocidile outside of an aquatic environment, an Earth Elemental on the deck of a ship) will mostly likely work - but it also probably needs to be close to when you actually pick up the prestige class (if you are taking it as level 7, then sometime during level 6 would be ideal, 5 would likely be acceptable, 4 is a maybe).

I woult arbitrarily rule that a "worthy opponent" is one against whom you cannot reasonably expect more than a 50-50 chance of defeating.

The perfect worthy opponent would be what pops out when you look into a Mirror of Opposition.
