The Elves of Aliador have, by now, finished the destruction of Doraaka, capital of the Empire of Iuz. Their forces have secured the entire border region between their country and the Empire of Iuz. But Iuz and his forces are not actively resisting. Why aren't they putting up a fight? Something is very, very wrong here. The Tempest has turned to the worship of Yolande, Halfling Goddess of Peace. Lynn has emerged as a nation of superscience. Miranda, Marchwards, and Elvanian Forest are actually run by Demogorgon, Prince of Demons. Gigantea and Hyperboria are actually run by evil peoples and evil elves. And Nyrond has turned into the Enclaves of Organic Farming and Free Love. Worst of all, Saint Nick and his Elves have taken power in Polaria. It must be Vecna. Only the coming of Vecna, could account for this. Only Vecna, would be so utterly cruel, utterly baneful, utterly darkly humorous, as to create such havoc. The Elves of Aliador and the Star Elves (formerly Good Drow) retreat, teleporting back to Varna, capital of Aliador, which they further fortify with more Walls of Force and other magical defenses. The people of the Theocracy of the Pale they evacuate from Wintershiven and the other major Theocracy cities, to Varna. Likewise, Ratik and the Lendores are evacuated, their people concentrating their forces in the safety of Varna. - TO KALANYR The Elves of Miranda send a message to Demogorgon and his lackeys as follows: 'Release our children, and send them back to Aliador safe and whole.' For, although the greater part of the children of Aliador are safe within Xaels' Elven Demiplane, a fair number were sent to Miranda, Gigantea, and Hyperboria. The horrified Elves of Aliador can only hope they don't lose those children, and then have to do something REAL BAD to Demogorgon and lackeys as a result. - Veluna now acknowledges the overlordship of Aliador, becoming a part of Greater Aliador. Then King Arden, paladin 32nd, of Keoland announces the entire League of Athyr will acknowledge the overlordship of Aliador, and the League will become a part of Greater Aliador. Magic has it's uses ... Celene and the Yeomanry go along immediately. Veluna, the Lorridges, and the Lortmils go along with the annexation, some more eagerly, some grudgingly. The northern half of Keoland, including Niola Dra, grudgingly goes along, with many a threat of revolt and several assassination attempts against the King. However, the southern half of Keoland refuses to go along, Gran March, Sterich, and Geoff refuse to go along, and Bissel refuses to go along. The southern Keolandish city of Gradsul even goes so far as to invite the Scarlet Brotherhood in, to protect them from the Mad King Arden! Furyondy declares itself out of the League of Athyr, then finds itself isolated. Of course, King Arden isn't going to let this stand. The League must unite, under the rule of Aliador! Veluna invades Furyondy to force it back into the League. Keoland invades Gran March, Bissel, Geoff, and Sterich. Keoland and forces from the Lortmils invade southern Keoland. The civil war in the League of Athyr is on.
