Is a creature too powerful ?

First Post
Our group has been playing pathfinder now for around 8 months. We are 9th level. 4 of us. 1 cleric 1 fighter druid and a summoner. If every creature that we attack is taking down the fighter in one full attack round. Are these creatures too difficult for the party or is this the right difficulty for the group.

could this problem be sorted out as the fighter is fed up of using Hero points and re rolled new chars.

Buff the fighter might work, also what does the fighter do?

Does he fight defensively?

Does he get buff spells?

Why isnt there a summoned creature around to absorp the damage?

Lot of encounters, will damage the fighter, but with the right buff/debuff and tactics he should survive quite easely

I would say that this is not normal. In every game I've played, the Fighter is one of the toughest PCs in the group, and while he can be killed it usually takes more than one round of one monster using full attack. This leads me to believe the Fighter is doing something wrong. Do you guys have adequate magic items? Is this a low-magic game? What is the Fighter's AC? Are you guys rolling for hit points every level, and the Fighter always rolls a 1? We need more information.

What armour is he wearing?

Two weapons is the most fragile choice of all IMO, which likely doesn't help, but even so... he must have massive dexterity to even qualify for it so his AC can't be that bad presumably.

My suspicion is that you're probably being put up against too tough an opposition.
If you could give a few of the encounters that you've been up against that would give us a better idea.
Saying that there are a few other possibilities

- not enough defensive items on the fighter.
at 9th level he should have 46000gp worth of gear
and he should be in full plate.

common options are
magic armour, probably +2 or +3
ring of protection probably +1
amulet of natural armour probably +1
Dusty Rose Prism Ioun stone +1
if you get +3 armour that's 9000gp, 2000gp * 2, 5000 = 18000 leaving 28000gp for weapons and other items.

and it's 6 AC better than without items, which cut's damage taken significantly.
Even +6 instead of +3 it's a significant reduction.

- note that in most encounters a fighter is better to let the opposition come to him rather than go to them. That way the fighter gets a full attack in the first round and mostly the opponents only get a single attack. That way he won't be diced before the summons happen.

I agree more info is needed. At L9, average hp for a 12 CON fighter is 66 - he's taking over 66 points in the first round of virtually every combat (more if he has a decent CON)? Where are the druid/animal companion, cleric, eidolon etc. during these combats?

As was indicated above, the fighter should be waiting for opponents to come to him - he may want to consider placement so passing him to get at casters requires sucking up an AoO (Combat Reflexes may be a good feat choice given his high DEX). If he charges in and the opposition gets to surround and flank him, no surprise he has no staying power.

Maybe the three spellcasters need to dedicate some spell resources to buffing the fighter up (they're not in there soaking up hits and they're not buffing the guy that does - what happens on Round 2?)

What creatures are they? What book are they from? What is the monster's CR? Are you running a published adventure? If so, which one?

Something seems wonky here.

There is no way that a fighter should be going down every combat against anything like level appropriate monsters. Something is definitely amiss.
