Message: <blockquote data-quote="Reynard" data-source="post: 3482206" data-attributes="member: 467">I said "Yes" because as consumers, we are enitled to our feelings, no matter how irrational they may be.  What bothers me, though, is that there is a lot of gnashing of teeth lately that will come to naught: when the DI arrives, or 4E, or whatever, most of the people that are flipping out now will still stick with WotC.  This is sad mostly due to the fact that it isn't difficult to play with whatever edition happens to "be D&D" for you.  I just purchased a crapload of 1E books for a very reasonable price from Troll and Toad.  I can play 1E if I like.  Anyone else who thinks WotC has doneus damage can do the same.Here's the thing: gaming is very much a community centered activity.  We come to messageboards to feel like we are a part of something bigger than ourselves.  IMO, it's a "geek" thing -- wether your geekism is games, sports, scrap booking, DIsney or whatever.  But because we have a forum, we feel we have the right to express our opinions, no matter how extreme.  ANd we do.  But expressing our opinions is only half the equation.  We need to stand by those opinions, or they don't matter.  Those that say they will boycott WotC because of the Dragon/Dungeon thing or whatever should do so.  Even if they end up not counting for enough to change the company's policy, it is still a matter of principal.  Maybe it'll work -- I mean, how many times has a TV series or comic been extended because of fan "outrage"? -- and maybe it won't.  But if you stick to your guns, at least you know, personally, that you did what you could -- you voted with your wallet.I like gaming with my friends.  I would love to convince them to play a 1E game.  If they are not willing, though, I'll play 3E. 3.5 or 4E.  I am not more dedicated to a particular game than I am to gaming in general.  ANd I think most of us are that way, so, in the end, WotC will "win" -- and so long as gaming is the important part, ultimately so will we "win".</blockquote>
