Is it possible for an epic spellcaster to clone an eidolon?

Let's say a powerful mage makes an Eidolon of himself at 21st level. He then proceeds to generate 2d4 clones of that Eidolon. If the Eidolon dies before the 8 hours expires, will the soul(and thusly the levels from you) transfer into a clone of it and begin the process over and over?

Because I think that's the greatest ultimate loophole ever.
