[QUOTE="Corlon, post: 1534277, member: 6905"] The spellbinder is a PrC from Path of Magic (3.0). It specializes in enchantments. I always thought it was pretty balanced, but then realized that some things could really override the abilities of other party members. Anyways, here it is: prereqs: Skills: knowledge(arcana) 8 ranks, perform 5 ranks (dance, melody, mime) Feats: spell focus (enchantment, spell penetration) spellcasting: ability to cast arcane enchantment spells as a bard or sorcerer. class stuff: hd: d4 skills: alchemy, concentration, craft, knowledge (all skills), perform, profession, scry, spellcraft 2+int mod per level BAB: as rogue Saves: Fort low, ref and will high Abilities: +1 spells every level specialty: the aptitude for spells from enchantment schools causes the spellbinder to cast spells from all other schools at a -1 caster level. Also, half of the spellbinders spells MUST be enchantments. The spellbinder may learn enchantment spells from ANY spell list (can choose hold person as 2nd or 3rd level spell and emotion as 3rd or 4th cause of different spell lists, but they can't cast it at the higher level if they know the lower level without heighten spell) Extra spell: lv 1-1st, lv3-2nd, 5-3rd, 7-4th, 9-5th: the spellbinder learns a new enchantment spell of the stated level and may cast an extra enchantment spell once per day of the stated level. Enchantment feats(2nd level): spell penetration and focus's bonuses upgrade to +4 instead of +2. Enchanting dance (4th level): can use enthrall once per day, except it doesn't require sound. Enchanting voice(6th level): The spellbinder can cast enchantment spells without a somatic component, and she can extend the duration of her enchantment spells for howeer long she sings or speaks to her victums, up to a number of minutes equal to her constitution score. Each round she must make a concentration check (dc 15+spell level) -2 cumulatively each round in order to maintain the sell. It only effects creatures who have the ability to hear it. Enchanting Gaze(8th level): Can cast enchantment spells without verbal or somatic components, but can only use it to affect one creature. Enchantment Mastery(10th level): the spellbinder automatically knows all enchantment spells of spell levels she can attain. When she gets a new spell level, she spends one "spells known" slot to get all the enchantment spells. She may also prepare enchantment spells as a wizard. So, is the penalty of having half her spells be enchantment and all other schools at -1 caster level really enough? Add on top of that all spell lists, the intersting abilities later in the class, along with rogue BAB and good ref save. Is it balanced, or should there be abilities taken away or toned down?
