Is there a Los Angeles area Game Day?

I'm noticing threads for Boston and Chicago Game Days ... are there any in Los Angeles or in Southern California that occur?

You are venturing into DANGEROUS TERRITORY here my friend!

I asked a similar question several years ago after noticing that lots of people at ENWorld had "North Carolina" listed as their location. I innocently asked, "Hey do you guys think there should be some kind of local Game Day like they do in Boston and Chicago?" The answer I got was, "That sounds like a great idea, Rel! When exactly is that going to be?"

This April we're having our 24th NC Game Day. And there are going to be a CRAPLOAD of people there! All because I asked a stupid question! ;)

It's so true. I first started the Boston gameday when I realized that there were a crapload of locals. The first one had about 12 people, the second one about 5. I thought "Oh no!" Nowadays our attendance is only limited by the size of the place where we're holding it. We've averaged about 3 a year for 9 or 10 years.

They're always a blast. I think we've only had one player who was rude or inappropriate.

Different locations handle things differently. DC and NC have sweet conference or university facilities they use, and lots of people can game at once. Chicago uses the wonderful Games Plus store. We tend to hold Boston Game Days in peoples' homes, so we're more limited on how many games can run simultaneously.

Clearly, we need more Boston members with access to large facilities...

It would appear that you volunteered to start one. We got the Chicago version going ten years ago this month and do it three times per year making this the 28th iteration. My advice would be to first find a space that can host the event for free, a large home like in Boston, a big gamestore like ours that appreciation the business it brings in, I'll have to let Rel speak to their space though I thought it might be a campus location(?). Use any combination of thread techniques used by the various gamedays that currently are run. Chicago uses a set up thread then a separate sign up thread. Maybe Buzz can find his way here with more details.
