Is this a good level adjustment for a new half nymph creature/race?

I have a player who wants to play a nymph, but it is too powerful since it has to start out as a ECL14 character. So I was going to make him a Half Nymph race (who wouldn't want to be the person to make that half nymph :heh:

Anyway, I was using the Pixie as a base, since they are close to each other. I eliminated the druid spells (although, I would like to add in some benifit to enhance druidic abilities but don't know what; maybe +2 caster level to druid spells?). I also reduced the blinding beauty and stunning grace to once a day and dropped the fey dice.

At this point I figure, when compared to the over powered pixie who is always invisible, has spell resistance and still has other spell like abilities, the half nymph is a bit weaker. I was figuring she might be a +3 level adjustment, but would like to hear your ideas and thoughts.

Also, feel free to offer suggestions and the like. I would like to keep her in the +3 to +4 range. I would also like to see some bonus for druid spells or maybe starts the game with the spell casting ability of a 2nd level druid? Like the real nymph starts with 7.

What doyou guys think?

Here is what I was suggesting so far for the half nymph and I listed the pixie to compare too.

Thanks for your help :) ;)

Half Nymph

A nymph is about the height and weight of a female elf.

A nymph character exchanges its 1 HD of fey for its first class level.
Half Nymph characters possess the following racial traits.
+6 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, +6 Intelligence, +6 Wisdom, +8 Charisma.
Medium size
Fey qualities: A half nymph is effected by spells and objects that effect fey.
A half nymph’s base land speed is 30 feet. It also has a swim speed of 20 and can use the run action while swimming..
Low-light vision.
Skills: A half nymph has a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. She can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. She can use the run action while swimming, provided she swims in a straight line.
Unearthly Grace (Su) A half nymph adds her Charisma modifier as a bonus on all her saving throws, and as a deflection bonus to her Armor Class. (The statistics block already reflects these bonuses).
Wild Empathy (Ex) This power works like the druid’s wild empathy class feature, except that a half nymph has a +6 racial bonus on the check.
Special Attacks : Spell-like abilities.(useable once per day) Blinding Beauty (Su)
This ability affects all humanoids within 30 feet of a half nymph. Those who look directly at a half nymph must succeed on a DC 17 Fortitude save or be blinded permanently as though by the blindness spell. A nymph can suppress or resume this ability as a free action. Stunning Glance (Su) As a standard action, a wrathful half nymph can stun a creature within 30 feet with a look. The target creature must succeed on a DC 17 Fortitude save or be stunned for 2d4 rounds. The save DC is Charisma-based. 1/day—dimension door. Caster level 7th.
Special Qualities (see above): Damage reduction 10/cold iron
Automatic Languages: Common, Sylvan. Bonus Languages: Elven, Gnome, Halfling.
Favored Class: Druid
Level adjustment +3

Pixies As Characters
A pixie character exchanges its 1 HD of fey for its first class level.
Pixie characters possess the following racial traits.
-4 Strength, +8 Dexterity, +6 Intelligence, +4 Wisdom, +6 Charisma.
Small size. +1 bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack rolls, +4 bonus on Hide checks, -4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits ¾ those of Medium characters.
A pixie’s base land speed is 20 feet. It also has a fly speed of 60 feet (good).
Low-light vision.
Skills: Pixies have a +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks.
Racial Feats: A pixie receives Dodge and Weapon Finesse as bonus feats.
+1 natural armor bonus.
Special Attacks (see above): Spell-like abilities.
Special Qualities (see above): Damage reduction 10/cold iron, greater invisibility, spell resistance equal to 15 + class levels.
Automatic Languages: Common, Sylvan. Bonus Languages: Elven, Gnome, Halfling.
Favored Class: Sorcerer.
Level adjustment +4 (+6 if the pixie can use irresistible dance).

The stat adjustements are the same as for a full nymph. I'd lower them some:
+4 Dexterity, +4 Intelligence, +4 Wisdom, +6 Charisma.

Blinding beauty doesn't make sense as a uses/day thing. I'd let her keep Stunning Glance useable a number of times/day equal to level, but drop the blinding beauty altogether.

If you want to make her a better druid caster, there are a few ways to do it. How about saying she gets bonus spells as if her Wis were 6 points higher?

With these reductions, I'd put it at a +4 (While maybe not as good as a Pixie, it is easily as good as Half-Dragon... and Pixies are ridiculously powerful for a +4 LA). Unearthly Grace, coupled with a big Charisma boost is very, very good.

I was thinking of eliminating the blinding beuaty and the stunning grace altogether, just to balance it a bit.

I too thought the pixie was insane for a +4, but I also think the half-ogre is nutty as a +1 (or is it a +2).

Anyway, good ideas, I'll think about it over night.

I don't have it with me right now, but I think there's also a half-nymph template in Dragon 313 (Races of Power).
Okay, I checked that out, very interesting.

It is certainly weaker than what I proposed, but also has a lower adjustment of +2 too.

Well, I will have to think on that too. I think I want something slightly more powerful than that, yet something not as nutty as a Pixie.
