Is this a real feat?

I was surfing the internet, and this came up.

Arcane Sacrifice [Metamagic]

Benefit: In her hunger for power, a magic user may sacrifice a small portion of her physical makeup in order to gain more knowledge. The wizard or sorcerer gives up 2 points of Constitution permanently. The Con can still be increased with spells and magical items (such as bear's endurance), or at levels including an increase in ability score. in exchange for this, the wizard or sorcerer gains the benefit of 1 bonus spell per level as if she had specialized in a school of magic. This bonus spell can be taken from any school of magic. The wizard or sorcerer may not specialize in a school if this feat is taken. She also gains no DC bonus to any school of magic.

Is this an actual feat, or just a fan-made feat?

What do you mean by "actual"?

Do you mean, "printed in a Wizard's of the Coast book"? If that is the case, then no. This feat does not appear in any Wizards of the Coast product.

Do you mean, "printed in any commercial d20 book"? If that is the case, then this is much more difficult to answer. There are thousands upon thousands of feats found in lots (and lots) of different third party publications. This feat may, indeed, appear in one of them.

It could be in the Netbook of Feats or something else, but I dunno. I don't put much stock into it, balance-wise. -_-

It's not too bad balance-wise, you lose 2 con which is equivalent to losing 1 hp per level. So over 20 levels:

1. Lose 20 hp.
2. Gain 1 each 1st through 9th level spells.

Thanks,
Rich

That feat is bad balancewise because you essentially pay two feats for 9 bonus spells (take Imp Toughness). There are feats like Extra Spell and similar ones with a lesser benefit.

yeah but no one uses them.

Also, there is a cheaper way to get the extra spell per level. Play a Domain Wizard (UA and in the SRD). It gets you the additional spell per level for free.

That said, I would still be fine with this feat if the player rolled up a Domain Wizard and then took the feat for a total of 2 additional spells per level.

Thanks,
Rich

so wait, lemme get this straight...

you were surfing the net, found a feat, and didn't know the source. rather than --i don't know-- looking at where you were, questioning that site, finding another link, looking on the WotC site, and actually reading the text of the feat (which would tell you at a glance that this is NOT WotC prose), you decided to come here and ask.

play a lot of fighters, do ya?

do your own homework next time.
