I knew that Monte's secret project had to be the Book of Vile Darkness. Now thinking about it, it all makes perfect sense!
1. It's never been done before: TSR publically shied away from controversial elements after the anti-D&D sentiment of the 80's. They went as far as to extricate the demons and devil's from the second edition
2.It will piss Jack Chick off: Go figure, a book on evil spells will make him drop dead!
3.People have been asking for it for a long time: This is because 2nd edition "sanitized the game" alienating many players.
4. Named after an artifact in the DMG : "Book of Vile Darkness"
