The nightstick gives someone with the ability to turn or rebuke undead four more uses/day. It does NOT give someone the ability to turn or rebuke undead that does not possess it before grasping the nightstick. The nightstick works in both directions -- turn and rebuke -- depending on whether the character normally turns or rebukes undead. Kind regards
