Its a Small World is going to be CLOSED!

Relique du Madde

Disneyland is closing It's a small World. Well.. not really. Apparently, Americans are getting so fat that the boats on It's a Small World routinely hit bottom (and become lodged in place) AND are becoming too fat to fit in the boats that Disney decided that it was time to remodel the ride.

When the ride reopens late next year, expect a wider/longer boat and a deeper trench to play havoc with those who decide to jump ship halfway through the ride's torturous song.

us americans need to lose some damn weight, never really realized how fat we were until I started living in other countries, it was rare to see a fat korean kid where i lived, but now its just about the opposite in the US.

Anyway, time to take my own advice and go drop 30 lbs.

The ride has also been open for decades without a significant period of downtime for maintenance. And that ride gets a CRAZY amount of use; apparently people really love creepy dolls.

They totally refurbed the one in Disney World, and did a good job at it. And the chorus of the song doesn't play so much that it will drive you mad.

A few years back (before the refurb) we got stuck in the ride for about 20 min. After that long of listening to the song I was about ready to drown myself to make it stop! :)

If you go on It's a Small World and they have to stop the ride because of your fat ass, that should be a wake-up call.

Some parts of Disneyland also have the original 1960's era Turnstyles. They now need special 'helpers' to lead the increasing number of land-whales through gates, as they cannot get through the styles.

Worse, the FAA is going to have to start weighing people before you get on a plane.

The People/Load Data tables haven't been updated in decades. That, combined with greater lbs/luggage per traveler has led to some recent small plane crashes. It turns out the small plane was overloaded, even though the 'Offical' books had them under capacity.

Obesity & Smoking are 2 of the most expensive, yet preventable, health conditions that exist in today's society.

(One edit; MOST obesity is preventable, in a small case, there is an underlying medical condition; there is a girl in my town who's body simply converts almost all sugar into fat, she can be starving herself, yet still gaining wieght).

That's the real shame. Porkers trying to claim its not they're fault they are fat (depite the 6,000 calorie/day diet they are on), when there are some people who trully have a medical condition.

I think we should use it to guilt trip people into losing weight.

Just imagine if Disney and had weight limits posted right next to the height requirements, and then decided to be a jerk about the entire issue by weighing quests that they think were too fat to get on a ride*.

*The scale of course would be prominently placed with a 3 foot tall display
