Reorx is the god of dwarves from Krynn (the Dragonlance world), isn't he?
I could be remembering wrong.

Anyway, as someone building their own world as well, I look forward to seeing more of your background and ideas.

I'm also curious about the elf goddess of the moon. Doesn't the published elvin pantheon have a deity of the moon? Does your goddess have some special plot role to play or something? I guess I'm just curious why she is necessary.

you are not remembering wrong reorx is the dwarvish god of krynn, now that i think about it.(couldnt remember where i got the name until now

i would say more on elune but my pcs may be lurking

I'll also reiterate Abdul's concern for spellcasting characters.

It sounds like you're setting it up a world that's all about the mages vs. the fighters. Which is fine. It is your world, after all. Go nuts however you want.

But will your characters all be forced to be either evil or at least law-breakers to be a wizard?..and are your players going to be ok with that?

no they will not be forced to be evil. i am thinking of a way around that one but i probaly have a while before my first session in this world. i am open to suggestions.:erm:

Well...in order to get suggestions...are we correct in assuming there's the nation of the lick and the nation that arcane spellcasters are illegal?

If that's the dychotomy...then is there an intermediate..."border" community where magic-use is simply magic-use? Without a stigma or danger.

Cool...the other way to handle the spellcasters (thinking of Dragonlance) is to go a Krynn (and pseudo-historical) kind of route. In other words, have the magi BE magi.

Magic-users have their own guild/organization/affiliation...Their own fraternity...and what political region they're from is irrelevant.

Obviously, while in the land where it's illegal (my world of Orea has a region where arcane spell use is outlawed as well, btw) they keep things on the DL...pass themselves off as scholars or historians or astrologers or whatever they have some specialty in.

Or perhaps have some limited safety from persecution by being affiliated with the known mage's organization...like a diplomatic immunity. But they'll still burn you if you're caught casting within the kingdom, of course ;)

Just throwing ideas out there...seein' what sticks to the wall. :)
