It's set in Concord NH, which is my hometown, and it was slightly surreal and pretty cool to see it as a backdrop.  Winters' writing vaguely reminds me of Raymond Chandler, with a good amount of description and driving around, and a slightly obsessive protagonist who doesn't understand how to stop doing his job.  I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would at first.Trying to slow down the reading a little bit right now; I'm vaguely unsatisfied and restless, and I don't think I'm enjoying the good books as much as I should or could.  I've got another Raymond Chandler and The Dervish House left from Xmas, and I'm saving them until I can chill out and really enjoy them.In the meantime, I'm punishing myself with The Chessmen of Mars, by Burroughs.  <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f609.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=";)" title="Wink    ;)"  data-smilie="2"data-shortname=";)" /></blockquote>
