I had a very strong party 7 players. Levels 1-4. New to me players. And some players have only been playing a few months. Part 1 was fun as the group spend about 10 minutes thinking on how to sneak up on the hospice. Once they got into the house of suffering between two players I think they dropped over 100 gp to bribe the guards! I was letting use persuasion or intimidation to talk to the nurses. I also maybe players do some bogus rolls on the way to mansion to up the paranoid. Part 2 was fun for me and a hack job. I combined the kitchen, the office, and steam mephitis into one huge encounter. This did split the party and I did play the monsters kind of stupid. I was also amazed that they finished both part 1 and 2 in under 2 hours. Part 3. The Burning room, I had some confusion. One player said he had the medallion of Amosdeus. After some question about the adventures he played in and talking with other dms, I ruled it was just dungeon dressing from another module. BUT, since he was defacing the room, I sicked two smoke mephitis on him and gave them advantage. I did play the mephitis smart by good breath weapon coverage getting all the party and smart attacks. I just discover I only used a strong instead of very strong encounter in the final boss fight. I had huey, dewey, lewey, and webbie as fanatics. The butler was the cult fanatic. I used Ravia as the Azer. The party hated hold person, and then three on one tactics on the held pc. I did make a player skip his turn. All night he was waiting to his turn to decide what to do. Taking take backs and being a pill. Only he was put out by this penalty. Oh, I did not use the first map at all but did a run drawing of the 2nd floor and placing the office and kitchen at the foot of the stairs or within 30 feet of the stairs. I will be taking a break from dming for 3 weeks while I read up on TOA.
