Over the walls of the wrecked mansion a scorpion tail is doing a radar sweep. As they knock on the windmill door, a fortyish woman opens the door.Abracadabra, “Didn’t you see the manticore?”Professor Paxton, “That is no manticore. Only Chimeras have scorpion tails. In fact, you just confused. See the body of a lion, tail of scorpion, and long blonde human female hair, means Volo was right about variations.”Nyzara raises her head and charges the door, which is slammed by the herb woman. Claws dig through the wood. Paxton, “Set aside, I will handle this.!” He opens the door and breathes. And suddenly the world goes dark.Mr. Happy, “Ouch Natural twenty on the first combat swing. You going to die!” Abracadabra hand off a potion of healing and yells, “Drag him back in.” Shasta throws the potion down Paxton’s throat with one hand and his spell from his other hand misses.Paxton wakes up to a furious blonde staring him in his face, “I breath again. 3 HP breath weapon.” The world goes dark again.Mr. Happy, “Hey I was just leaving. Make up your mind!” A second potion is use.Paxton, “See is female Chimera. Of the ten towns Nordic subspecies. Madam you said the young adult dragon drove you from your lair. How many lairs did you have? And what type of scales did it have? Was it face angles or round?”Nyzara Manticore, “My hair. My beautiful hair. What? Huh? Oh No! Not this. Nathaniel told me never eat crazy. I am out!” She flies away. Ms. Gwynn starts packing up for the trip to the Gnome kingdom while the others raid the remain herbs.The trip back to Gnomengarde is quick and smooth. They stay over and return to Phandalin the next morning. More jobs are going to place on the job board in the morning. And Mayor Harbin offers 50 GP for the hat of wizardry but is refused.In the morning a couple of adventurers are around the board. A female shield dwarf warrior is looking and they decide to team up to clear Axeholm. Suddenly the white dragon shows up above the town circling. It dives into one the houses, the Professor charges toward the attack while the others scatter to hide where they can. On the outskirts of town, just off the Miner’s Trail the dragon’s tail can be seen sticking up out the roof. Kind like a cat in the litter box the tail flicks back and forth. And crunches can be heard. Paxton takes notes while hiding by the Miner’s Exchange. As the dragon leaves he rushes toward the site of the disaster.A crowd starts to form. The crowd starts to mumble as Paxton takes notes of the damage. “the left foot a female citizen remains. It is:Nib Addlespur, “Stranger. That woman had a name. Dill.”Paxton, “Female name Phillips was about? How old was Sue?”Nib Addlespur, “That is Dill. Mister you may want to set out the house of Phil and Dill and let us.”Paxton, “I AM DOING SCIENCE HERE! You can wait.” Seeing Nib has gotten a rope and is forming a noose, Shasta slowly escorts him out the cabin and calms down the townsfolk. Look at the towns people, he decides to keep the Professor walking to the town limits.Professor, “Hey I nearly had eight pages of notes before you interrupt me.” A half day later, they arrive at Axeholm. The dwarf fortress is built into the mountain. But the portcullis has been raise and lowered in the past week. Some digging and up casting of mold earth gets them halfway in before the owl familiar spend a half hour jumping up and down on the release mechanism.As they blast the door open with a spell a ghoul tries to get to them. Two spell blast later only the arm is left for science. Exploring the west wing they fight one more ghoul and strige.Going upstairs, they nearly die fighting two giant spiders and are only alive due to Ruby. She pulls them out and sets up camp outside.DM NOTE. No more bad luck for Professor Paxton, or Shasta.
