You easy killed two Anchorite of Talos. They start the encounter afraid of you.</p><p></p><p>Story Award. A Blight upon your Family Tree. You think killed the Gulthias tree. All twig, needle, and vine blights get advantage on you.</p><p></p><p>I had very weak group of three. Zenith Starling the White Paladin 3 human. Calypso wizard 4 elf. Sir Roland Clondctest Human1.</p><p></p><p>The group cash in their receipts with mayor for a total 17 GP each. The Professor starts mumbling building an evil lair and wanders off. They find an eighty-year-old at the job board.</p><p></p><p>Nib Addlespur, “Mister. Those two people went out with the professor and he is nowhere to be found. They are cannibals.”</p><p></p><p>Three minutes later the DM is trying to get the pcs not to get in a fight. They choose to deliver to the Logger’s camp a pack mule of supplies. This pack mule is in better shape than Sir Roland’s mule. About three PM. A boar appears on the other side of a clearing. It is large and looks smarter than the average boar. The paladin tries to befriend it but it wanders off.</p><p></p><p>Group, “We track it.”</p><p></p><p>Book, “DON’T you do it.”</p><p></p><p>DM, “Give me a survival check.” Group, “Nothing less than a 16.”</p><p></p><p>Book, “It a foreshadowing event. It is in the book.”</p><p></p><p>DM, “You didn’t say in the text. Now turning to page 44. Oh ….”</p><p></p><p>An old mansion is discovered surrounded by pumpkin patches. The pumpkins are ready to be harvest. Since this is about mid-March this strikes most of the group as weird. Except of the elf who seasons don’t matter. They enter the house and start exploring the hallway. The Foyer was destroyed six months ago and no one cleaned up. The hall leads into the dining room where three twig scarecrows are dressed like the party. Zenith pushes his on the shoulder and is poked in the eye.</p><p></p><p>Calypso spell snipes and Sir Roland breaks the table fighting them. The twig blights go down fast. They open the side door into a fancy indoor courtyard has a nice tree growing in it. And six orcs just waking up from their afternoon nap. Since no one speaks orc, they attack.</p><p></p><p>Calypso sleeps one group of orcs mostly, and the two fighters start taking out the other orcs. As the first orcs die, the Gulthias tree feeds on the body of the dead. The paladin starts attacking the tree while three twig blights bud up top. Sir Roland climbs to the top and sees a half orc waking up in room through a window.</p><p></p><p>Grannoc the half-orc opens the window, “Why are you attacking the holy tree of Talos? Please stop.!”</p><p></p><p>Sir Roland, “It eats people.”</p><p></p><p>Grannoc, “It feeds on the dead. Stop attacking and it will leave you alone.”</p><p></p><p>Zenith, “hey if has hit points I can kill it.”</p><p></p><p>Grannoc, “Minions attack!” Four rounds later. “Find I will come out there and put a stop to this.”</p><p></p><p>Calypso, “DM You said I could use 2014 pcs if they are not rewritten. I climb the tree and HYPONOTIC GAZE.”</p><p></p><p>DM, “13. I have to look that up. Okay you lock him down.”</p><p></p><p>Calypso, “Finish off the last twig blight and sleeping orc. Then mostly chop down the tree. Then come get me and him and place him on the ground and we will beat him to death.” This cunning plan works.</p><p></p><p>They sweep the house and find little to fight but lots of magic loot. They sleep inside for the night and open the door. Three boars and an Anchorite of Talos attack. Calypso spell snipes while the fighters charge out and fight. As they are taking out last of boars, a thunder wave drops the paladin.</p><p></p><p>Roland does minimum damage.</p><p></p><p>Calypso does minimum damage.</p><p></p><p>The Anchorite with two hp left decides to take Zenith with him. Crit. Two death fails.</p><p></p><p>Zenith, “8. Death fail.”</p><p></p><p>Roland does minimum damage and takes out the boss, just too late.</p><p></p><p>DM Notes. Calypso do not level up as you will level out most of the adventures. Adventure League gives automatic raise dead between sessions. So we pick this up at the mansion next time.
