Jeremiah RPG news

Here's a bit of news for the Jeremiah RPG (yes d20/OGL).
(so what would you want to see for this game? Themes to explore? Supplements?)

From: Scott Agnew
The first submission manuscript is near completion and should go to the
publisher for editing within the next few weeks. As to SRD use, yes we used
large chunks of the Modern SRD as well as sections of the DnD SRD. Add to
this man new rules, character classes, vehicles, equipment, etc and you have
the core rules. What I think most people are interested in is the
background material. We have an exclusive license with the Jeremiah IP
holders and they are thrilled with the work we've done. In fact, they have
given our work Canon status and have asked us to act as Creative Conultants
on their other Jeremiah properties. That is to say, what you see in the RPG
will be considered as valid was what happens on screen and the RPG, TV show,
upcoming comics and a possible feature film will complement each other.
There are sections in the game covering post Big Death history of the world,
political and military factions from North America and beyond, full episode
guides from seasons 1 and 2, game stats for major characters, etc, etc, etc.
We are very excited about the project so stay tuned for more information as
things develop. For now we have the core rules and a minimum 3 suuplment
deal. The publisher is already talking about upping that to 6 supplement
minumum.
And, yes, we will be needing playtesters but I will have to check with the
publisher before I extend that invitation as I am unsure of their needs in
that regard.

Cheers,
Scott Agnew

Argh! A new Stracynski show and it's on showtime! Well, once it gets to season four, sci-fi will buy it off of showtime, just like stargate sg-1. LOL

My "Walt Disney screwed the Marsupilami" sense tell me that Hermann will not like the comics part of this.

Hermann

The Hermann Hupen comics were the inspiration for the Jeremiah TV show but the two are VERY different from one another. I don't expect anyone will mistake the TV show universe (for which the RPG is being developed) with the comic books by Hermann.

I understand that, but having two comics with similar titles on similar subject wouldn't be wise. Especialy considering the quality of Hermann's comics: it could decrease the value of his IP in the comics field (comics in the U.S. tend to be made by various artist under the direction of some editor, and the quality from one publication to another for the same IP tend to vary wildly, while Hermann's are always made by himself :) and his comics tend to stay top notch).

edit: even if globaly, having those two comics generate more money, if it slightly decrease the value of the original comics, something similar to what happened with the Marsupilami could occurs. Well IMO

First, let me start by saying that "Jeremiah" is an amazing show. Even if you don't have cable it's worth purchasing (screw the rental!!) on DVD. Though I'm really more of a fantasy than SF fan, Jeremiah is so well done that I really can't say enough about it. JMS is, as always, at the top of his game.

That said congrats on the RPG deal, Scott: I definitely hope that you get at least 6 supplements out: a rabid fan-base helped "Midnight" catch on, why not "Jeremiah"? It's a definiely a setting ripe for exploration! I know I for one, am eagerly looking forward to seeing what great works come out.

SO, if you're looking for playtesters, I am definitely interested (assuming I can find enough interested parties in my area!!).

Heh, except Jeremiah is all but dead. Showtime only showed half of the second season (despite what they're saying about it being the whole season, it's not), JMS left because the executives being rediculously demanding... it was basically a great show ruined by the company. Showtime pulled a similar incident with another show whose name I can't remember at the moment... but AFAIK the remaining episodes of that show were never shown.
