Jeremiah, the RPG - please sell me on it!

I've been burned by Mongoose in the past--their editing process has been slipshod at best and abysmal at worst. However, I want to give 'em another chance, and I see Jeremiah, the RPG as a perfect opportunity.

Please sell me on this product. Please also tell me that the editing is better, and that (as someone who nit-picks over missing words or sentences that make no sense) I won't be too disappointed. Thanks!

I too was hesitant because of mongoose's prior record with editing and other things (i wont talk about including character sin core book, i wont i wont!)

But i liked the show.

and i like modern systems.

but i had pretty much given up on it, wasn't gonna buy, until in the rpgnet thread they started talking mechanics, and i liked what i saw. it even led me to googel grim and gritty to see the core they were using.

So, since i am willing to toos my money in support of interesting mechanics, that pushed me over the hump and i decided buying one core book, even is i was expecting to be annoyed at some issues due to the publisher, was fine.

Mine is shipping now from amazon so i cannot answer your concerns about the usual mongoose problems.

but i can say that from my viewpoint, there is enough of interest to hook me in spite of that.

The books are great BUT there are issues with editing some quite obviously "cut and paste" errors whereas others seem to have occured at a point where they seem to have changed from hit point to a life bar. Mechanically some of the things I liked were:

EVERYONE has the same life track even at level 20 you don't really want to get shot.
Con won't adjust your track but will affect your damage reduction.

It has some nice background rolls you can make for your charactes (such as where in the US you come from, what socio-economic class your family belong to and childhood pastimes.)

Even though it takes a little longer I like the idea of one roll to attack one roll to defend and the difference being extra damage.

Personally i love the TV show I am willing to be rather forgiving, I would probably suggest you look at it in your gaming store.

hope this helps
