Joke: The Mystic Theurge

I sent the below e-mail to WotC (custserv@wizards.com) and I am asking you folks to write a similar one as well.

The Mystic Theurge is extremely over powered, particularly at high levels. Compare it to a wizard...

Wiz20 vs. Clr3/Wiz3/MTh10/XyZ4 (where XyZ is another PrC that grants +2 caster levels per XP level) = no contest ...even: Wiz3/Clr3/MTh10 (a level 16 PC) is a gross PC. That's level 7 spells in 2 classes folks! Quite the badboy at level 16 and it can be of any race without an XP penalty!

Worst case scenario is you wait until epic level to gain two more levels of MTh and 9th level spells, example:
Clr3/Wiz3/MTh12/Geomancer4 (w. geomancer levels split between Clr & Wiz).

With this worst case scenario, I'm level 22 (rather than 20) before I have max spell level in these two classes! This is a big differance from the 34 levels it use to take to get this.

Please do not go foreward with this class as is.

Assumption. I think we all know the line on that one.

Maybe you're jumping to conclusions with this particular one?

1. There's no guarantee that there will be other PrC's which grant "+2 spellcasting levels per level". There's certainly merit in the suggestion that a classes "+1 spellcasting level" is NOT, in itself a spellcasting level.

ie - if you take one level of Theurge, then take levels of arcane trickster, the arcane trickster spellcaster levels still only apply to your wizard casting abilities, not both wizard and cleric.

2. Do you honestly believe that level 7 spells in two classes beats out level 8 spells in a single spellcasting class (and the same number of spells at 8 as the theurge has at 7)? Especially when you take other class abilities into account.

Perhaps you should stop crossposting the same message over and over and actually think about what you're saying.

Saeviomagy, sorry you didn't undeastand my post.

Yes, 7th in two classes is better than 8ths in one as I can hit you with Enervation and be rid of all your 8ths (no save). And you may get a couple of my 7ths with Enervation, but all I'll need is ONE Power Word Stun and I can unload!
