If you want the concise B/X rules in print you can get an old copy, get a PDF and print it yourself, or go with a B/X retroclone like OSE. OSE and Labyrinth Lord also have options to include AD&D stuff like separate race from class and AD&D specific classes in the slightly different power baseline B/X rules framework and B/X based versions of AD&D monsters like demons and devils which B/X and RC do not. Gygax wrote the AD&D books in pretty high Gygaxian with a lot of dweomer and eldritch and so forth but did not write anything besides Keep on the Borderlands for the Basic line, so the Basic writing that OSE and others redo is not really from the Gygaxian prose. I find the OD&D writing pretty sparse on the prose and often confusing, I find the dense 1e Gygaxian prose a bit clearer than the OD&D Gygaxian. :) I think the B/X writing is fairly clear (initiative could be clearer though) and provides a really good basis for learning and running a game of D&D. Its how I learned a lot of the game at age 8. :) [/QUOTE]
