I have been a Judges Guild fan since the very early days, and have owned JG products from the first few months of playing D&D. The Wilderlands of High Fantasy is one of my favorite campaign settings, and for the longest time it was the largest D&D campaign setting ever published. Now of course, there is Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Eberron, and Golarion. However Judges Guild was the first and for a long time the largest published campaign setting for D&D. Bob Sr. also published The First Fantasy Campaign, which was Dave Arneson's D&D Campaign World. To this day, I still enjoy running games set in the Wilderlands. I was a friend of Bob Sr. when he was alive, and this entire affair would have made him very unhappy. That said, he designed many of the JG supplements so you could create your own Fantasy Campaign world so you don't actually have to rely on or even use the Wilderlands Campaign setting. Books like the Campaign Hexagon System, Ready Ref Sheets, Cities, Castles, Temple and Village books were all guides so that you could create your own custom Fantasy Setting, old school style. They all contained random tables to help you generate and populate your unique campaign setting with interesting locations, fortifications, settlements, and interesting and unique ruins. There is really no need to buy any of the original Wilderlands Campaign Setting, as you can and should create your own for your players to enjoy. The Judges Guild is a group of GM's who work together to create memorable adventures and experiences for D&D (...as well as DCC, Pathfinder, and C&C) players . I feel sorry for Joe Goodman. He's a good guy who always strives to do the right thing. I think he is caught with a contract that is not entirely beneficial for him, especially in regards to republishing additional JG material based on the Wilderlands Campaign Setting. I'm glad he is republishing CSIO, and wish him the best with that endeavor. It would also be good to see some new DCC guides for creating your own campaign setting. In the old days, it was all about creating a setting that your players would enjoy. We should all get back to that, stick with it, and make interesting settings and adventures that our players will enjoy. We are a Guild of Judges, not just one, and should act accordingly.
