Jumping long AND high?

How do you do this?

Situation:

You're standing in front of a bottomless crevasse that is 20' in width. On the other side of it you have a cliff face that rises 20' above your height. You can make a running start.

What is the Acrobatics DC for jumping across the 20' crevasse, but also clearing that 20' of height?

It would be great if the game had a parabolic arc DC chart.

Since the DC to jump 20 feet up is 80, I'd suggest trying something else.

But if that's not helpful, I don't see much wrong with simply adding the DCs together to get the two elements of the jump.

I'd just figure the jump forms a parabola, the highest point in hte middle of the jump, so to jump at the highest point 20 ft away, you'd be looking a a 40 ft horizontal jump. Then use whichever DC is higher and use that. In this case, yeah, DC 80 to do a 20 ft vertical jump, so that'd supersede the DC 40 for the long jump.

More useful would probably be using the vertical reach table that at least 3E if not PF has in the jump skill. Without jumping, a human can reach up to 8 ft vertically. So if you want to jump high enough ot catch the the top edge of the barrier and then pull yourself up, 20-8 = 12 ft, so a more reasonable DC of 48, still higher than the horizontal DC (so use the 48).

You could make a easy DC ~10 climb check added to the attempt for the catch and pull up portion of it, but I wouldn't bother with it.

For this, since there isn't a significant change from 3.5E in the PF rules, I'd just keep the 3.5 rules on height at the middle of a long jump.

In the middle of a long jump, you reach a height equal to 1/4 of the total distance jumped.

Thus, the DC to go up 20' is 80, whether it's 20' straight up or 20' up at the middle of an 80' long-jump (though you'll only really travel 40', since at that point you'll be on top of the opposite side). Note that you'll need to have enough space to get a long lead-up to the jump.

by the ti e you can make a dc 80 jump check for the Hightower 20 feet across is trivial. the Hightower here is in my view all that matters.
