just a question

just a question do people here think there would have een less essentials is 4,5 rumors if.

The classes in essentials where not presented like new builds in an existing class (( for example slayer being a figter build))

but instead where presented as seperate classes for beginning player
so just introduced as slayer, thief, mage classes

then they woulden't be much difrent from PHB2 and PHB3
those also include rules changes and updates and introduction of new character classes.

But calling the slayer a figter might be confusing as peope wil wonder if it replaces current figter

wel as introducing a new beginner class named slayer might seem less treatning to the lovers of the current fighter.

I think the only way there would have been less rumors is if they had simply said essentials is 4.5. Then there'd be no more rumors at all, it'd be fact.

Except essentials doesn't replace the PHB. The slayer and knight do not replace the PHB Fighter, and are compatible. Feats that have fighter as a prereq still work with it, Utility powers previously printed can be used.

Saying it's 4.5 wouldn't be true. It'd be untrue. So they didn't say that.

Whatever, really. WotC could announce that research has shown that playing D&D cures cancer and promotes world peace and someone would complain about it on the Internet.
