I think people are mostly scared that if Warforged are in the PHB1, they'll be in any campaign-setting that gets significantly modified with 4E, like, say, the FR, or that every game they try and run with strangers with the DI virtual tabletop will need a "no Warforged!" disclaimer (of course, after a few years, most virtual tabletops will need disclaimers disallowing a multitude of annoyances).</blockquote>
