Message: <blockquote data-quote="sydbar" data-source="post: 2797064" data-attributes="member: 37524"><p>Here in new mexico(drunk driving capitol of the world), they recently passed a law requiring that anyone convicted of drunk driving(even first timers) have an ignition interlock installed on their car, which means you have to breathe into a tube in  a certain way if you want to start a car, and if it detects alcohol on your breath you can't start your car for a certain amount of time.  Some people in the state government wanted to pass a law to require ignition interlocks on all cars in the state to cut down on drunk driving, but decided not to since $1000  per car is too much to ask for people, even if it could cut down on drunk driving not to mention the problems it can cause in emergency situation.  In albuquerque they passed a law that allowed the cops to confiscate your car if you were arrested of drunk driving, but the courts struck it down.  THe worst part is that the drunk drivers usually get minor injuries while the victims get badly injured or killed, we recently had 3 people killed in a drunk driving accident, 2 were drunks that had called a cab, and the cab driver were killed, while the drunk driver was basically uninjured and was like 2 times the legal limit.</p></blockquote><p></p>
