Congrats, DonAdam! Good luck in grad school, with the move and all the rest.

I brought my wife to Virginia from Irving and she's done okay. There's good Texas BBQ in DC, at this joint in Chinatown near the MCI center. I can't remember the name off the top of my head, though, so I'm really no help whatsoever. :)

Mason's campus is sweet. You'll like it there. And in a couple of years, you can be Dr. DonAdam!

My wife is an economist in the DC area. Once you get past the first couple of years you can hit a nice stride. She's currently entertaining some nice offers from thinktanks in the region.

Too many people to quote since my interweb connection has been down for a couple of days, but here it goes anyway:

Boettke told me they'd probably want me doing research in economics & philosophy given my background, which is perfect for me. My BA is in theology and econmics and I've done a year of graduate work in philosophy (after failing to get a scholarship offer from Mason last year :uhoh:.

Of course, this means no lucrative career, but only mathematical economists get those anyway. I'm interested in Austrian economics, so that's out of the question ;). I'm definitely headed the university professor route.

I'm waiting on word from one more school before I accept (Catholic U in DC for theology), but GMU is definitely the most probable choice even if they offer me a scholarship.

I'm moving down in the fall (either to DC or GMU), so, barring school interfering with them, I'll definitely show up at the gamedays.

Of course, as Mr. Browning has pointed out, with the (possible) exception of family and friends, Mexican food is the hardest thing to leave behind.
