Trial and error configuration issues - you have to put a "limit" on MySQL connections, and I'm having it increased gradually.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I just turned the news ticker off and now the pages load much faster.

I've given up and turned off the ticker too. Even though I don't get some of the Community Supporter features when it's turned off, the improved performance is well worth it. I'm sure Morrus will eventually get around to adding all the features to the 'no news ticker' theme.

Why are you sorry? I have no personal attachment to the news ticker, y'know. I didn't invent it or write it or anything. It's just something I found that I thought people could use if they liked.

That's what I did. Having the ticker on either crashed my browser or locked it up or slowed the pages down so bad that I couldnt deal with it...and I am on DSL. (And yes I have the latest java [Sun] installed, this only happens on ENWorld )

I haven't had any problems with the ticker, and I keep it on. I have been assimilated by the Microsoft Borg (Windows XP, MS Internet Explorer version 6). Come join the Borg. Resistance is futile.
