Just over a week 'til March Fo(u)rth for GM's Day!

Anyone still observing this most sacred of gamer holidays? I need ideas for stuff to get my Rogue Trader GM. He was lusting over another GM's custom-made grid-printed magnetic dry erase board, which gets used as a battle map. Maybe I should see how much one of those costs.

Goal One: Instill in my fellow players how awesome and necessary GM's Day is while I'm not currently running a game.

Goal Two: Start a game some time this fall, and run 'til March to reap the prizes.

I'm pretty sure I am the only person in my group who has even heard of it, and I'm the GM. Maybe I'll get myself a cupcake or something.

I mentioned this to my wife the other night and wondered if she was getting me a gift. She didn't rule out the possibility but mentioned that I had another holiday coming up only ten days later and the I shouldn't get too greedy.

Where did this holiday come from? I've been GMing for more years than I care to count, yet this is the first I've ever heard of such a thing...

Since I no longer have a gaming group, so I no longer get cool presents...

One year a group I was DMing made me this huge card, bought presents and had cake during a gaming session (I had actually forgotten because I was planning for the game that weekend.) Considering I had thirteen players at the time, that March 4th rocked!!!

I love this. As I always said - it doesn't need to be commercialized! The idea of your kids baking you a cake for GM's day makes my day, actually
