Kalamar and Book of the Righteous

yipwyg

First Post
I have started to adapt the gods found in the BOTR to the gods in Kalamar. This is what I have so far.

The Great Church
Urian
Rontra
Shalimar
Morwyn---------The Lord of Silver Linings, The Eternal Lantern
Terak------------The Old One, Knight of the Gods, Battle Rager
Zheenkeef------The Laughter, The Confuser of Ways
Tinel-------------The Riftmaster
Mormekar-------
Maal-------------The True, The Speaker of the Word
Darmon----------The Traveller,
Aymara----------The Pure One, Raconteur
Korak------------The Mule
Anwyn-----------The Holy Mother
Naryne-----------The Founder
Canelle-----------Powermaster
Thellyne----------The Great Huntress
Asmodeus
Carnarak----------Seller of Souls
Thellos------------The Vicelord
Naran--------------

I would appreciate any suggestions or thoughts about this. I really like the BOTR and look forward to using it a lot.

I plan on using the Demon Princess and Archdevils as well.

Grazz'zt would probably end up being used as The Confuser of Ways.

completely off topic here, but does anyone else first think "Bored of the Rings" when you see BoTR instead of "Book of the Rightious"?

"Bored of the Rings"?

Gawd, I remember that awful lampoon. I could hardly finish it. It was really funny in the beginning, but it got stale real fast.

Eeew.

OTOH The Book of the Righteous, however, is amazing, and dovetails quite nicely with the Kingdoms of Kalamar setting! Some tweaks and creativity are needed, but it's not too difficult to put things together!

I'll try to post my own interpretation in a few days, yipwyg, but thanks for the inspirational start :) (I'm outta town as I post this.)

I'm not sure, but isn't Urian the name of the Creator in BotR? I don't remember, but if so there's another conversion slot filled.

I read, I believe it was in the d20 forum, that Asmodoeus' claim to godhood is not entirely correct, him being the Prince of Lies and all the rot that goes with it... Something to keep in mind with respect to the LE deities! (My interpretation is that an evil god could wipe out all nine hells on a bad hair day--but then again I like my deities to be almost all powerful and thus unstatted!) YMMV

That is true about Asmodeous in most settings. Green Ronin treats him as a major diety though.

I plan for my version, although look forward to yours as well, to have the evil Kalamar Dieties tied to the Arch-Devils or Demon Princes. In this scenario the Evil Gods in the Kalamar Pantheon would not be considered Gods at all, except for Asmodeous.

I might alter the cretion myth a little bit and say they saved Kador, and that Asmodeous is actually just the most powerful of the Arch-Devils.

Urien is the God of Air (Sky and everything in it. I believe the Nameless one would be the equivalent of The Creator, though could be wrong.

Thanks for the response.
