Kalamazoooooo!

Kapture

First Post
Hey. I'm returning to Michigan within the next couple of months. However, I'm coming to the Portage/Kalamazoo area, on the other side of the state from my native Detroit Suburbs.

I thought I noticed in one of the Eberron threads here that there are gamers on the boards representing for Kalamazoo.

Could I get recommendations about where to go for gaming stuff (particularly who has a good supply of the various editions of DND minis) and where I can meet gamers? Are there any open gaming spots, like Neutral Ground here in New York? I know there's a little ren fest. Any SF cons besides the one in Lansing and the ones in SE MI? Clubs?

Welcome to Kazoo

I Know of two game shops in Kazoo (yes, that's how we tend to spell it), the Game Shop on Westnedge near Whites Ave and Fanfare Sports & Entertainment on Westnedge at Kilgore Rd. I have heard of a third (open now or opening soon), but I don't remember where. I prefer the Game Shop, because the staff knows what their talking about. Fanfare really doesn't care to know anything. If your looking for minis both have them, but Fanfare sells the new D&D minis individually. Meeting gamers has been my problem, but the third shop has/will have (maybe) gaming areas, so that might help.

If you have more questions, email at ray_morris@sbcglobal.net.

I believe Western Michigan University has a gaming club that you may want to check out. I dont recall what it is called so you'll have to just check out the info on the University website (look for organizations). Its been about 8 yrs since I looked for anything down that way. I do play in a game in the Grand Rapids/Muskegon area every two weeks so there are groups in that area.

Welcome to the area! I just moved back here a couple years ago myself, and I've been lucky enough to find two great groups. Personally, I find Fanfare to be a much better store than the Game Shop, since the staff at the latter one gives me the willies. Also, Fanfare has better discounts. Most of my gaming budget, though, goes to Discount Hobby in Battle Creek.

The gaming club at WMU is called the Western Michigan Gamers Guild. They've got a website you can check out. I'm not familiar with the group, but I've been to their con once.

My gaming groups are in a state of flux right now, but when you move here, you could send me an email and I could see if we've got room.

Laman, where's the new gaming store going to be? I haven't heard anything about it.
