Kali Eldgrímr, the Bane of Cania
Cania is hell frozen over, a place of supernatural cold that sucks the warmth out of every living thing on the plane. Vast glaciers scour the landscape, moving vaster than a man can run, sending snow and ice spraying up into the sky. Yet despite this frigid cold, warmth exists in Cania; deep beneath the ice heat wells up from magma pools. This apparent contradiction is explained by the plane of Cania being an extension of the archdevil Mephistocles' will, and he enjoys tormenting the souls of Cania with heat just beyond their reach.
Kali Eldgrimr was suddenly thrown into the realm of Mephistocles after losing a battle against the Grand Magus Tul'Vos. It was quite a change of environment from the scorching deserts he was used to but Kali refused to give up and be absorbed into the plane. He met the famous Drow weaponsmith Rizolvir in the Hellbreath tavern, who told him how the Savior of Waterdeep had once been cast down to Cania just as he had, but prevailed against Mephistocles and escaped.
Kali vowed to break out and seek vengeance against the Tul'Vos, and learned to embrace the dual nature of Cania in his quest for revenge.
