1st Day With Virtual Table Top Well, we had our first session with using a Virtual Table Top (VTT) program. Please keep in mind we are strictly a Face to Face (F2F) group and wanted an application to replace miniatures. Although miniatures look really cool they carry the cost, having the right ones and the right quantity, and the necessity of either maps or dungeon tiles. We ran our last D&D 3.5 campaign with dungeon tiles and it went well but we constantly were using the wrong miniatures and even dice to represent figures in combat. We chose to use one virtual table top program (listed above if you are interested). I built some of the beginning maps for Keep on the Shadowfell (KotS) loaded the encounters. Well after last nights combat I can surely say that the group was impressed. They loved the movement, the unknown map, and having the monsters be a surprise. The Fog of War (FoW) was a huge plus and if anyone is considering doing virtual table top, FoW would be a must. Having said that the program we used had some issues and I have posted the notes to the companies website. They have always been very quick to respond. Right now I would say we are 60% likely to continue using the virtual table top. If our issues are resolved then I would say we would be 100%. Overall, it was an enjoy experience and the technology certainly provides the WOW factor. Skeeve PS: I included the beginning outdoor maps for KotS below. If we continue with the VTT then I will add to this post.
