IMC, there's a creature similar to the gebbeth from Ursula K. LeGuin's Wizard of Earthsea. KHAIYAL Synonymous with “shadow”, a khaiyal is a reflection of a person’s dark secrets, the side of themselves that they try to hide. The disparity between one’s assumed demeanor and shadow nature must be great in order for a khaiyal to form, and even then it requires the intervention of powerful magic, usually a ritual. Sometimes a khaiyal forms when a young warlock or wizard attempts to perform a powerful shadow ritual. Wise mages conjecture that a khaiyal is only possible when a person has sufficient hubris. When a khaiyal is created, it emerges as a separate entity from the original creature, yet the two are bound until the khaiyal possesses its creator or the creator embraces the khaiyal. Prerequisite: Humanoid, Charisma 13+ Khaiyal Elite Lurker (Controller) Humanoid (shadow) Defenses +2 Fortitude; +2 Will; +4 to all defenses against charm or fear effects Resist 5 (attacks from anyone other than its creator) at 1st level, 10 at 11th level, 15 at 21st level Vulnerable If the khaiyal’s creator makes a successful grab against the khaiyal they may make a Cha vs. Fort attack to embrace the khaiyal; if successful the khaiyal is destroyed and the creator gains 1 action point; if it fails the khaiyal dominates its creator (save ends). Saving Throws +2 Skills Insight +5, Stealth +5 Action Point 1 Hit Points +6 per level + Constitution score POWERS Possessing Grapple (standard; encounter) * Charm On a successful grab against the khaiyal’s creator; Cha vs. Will; the khaiyal enter the target’s space and is removed from play, and the target is dominated (save ends). When the target is no longer dominated, the khaiyal appears either in a square adjacent to the target or at its haunt. Final Possession (standard; daily) * Charm When the khaiyal’s creator is helpless (or willing); Cha vs. Will; the khaiyal permanently dominates the target. Familiar Haunt (move; daily) The khaiyal clings to one place familiar to it, such as the place it was summoned or the site where its creator committed a secret crime. The khaiyal teleports to this place. Nightmare's Guise (minor; encounter) The khaiyal becomes insubstantial and invisible to all but its creator until the end of its next turn. Sense Weakness (free; at-will) The khaiyal instinctively knows any vulnerabilities of its opponents and its creator.
