I believe a monk replacement / equivalent class was created on an ENWorld board that was based upon the Warlock. One of its mantras (invocation equivalents) was a ki blast - again if I recall correctly. [Edit] Here it is: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?p=3017697&posted=1#post3017697 And here is the attachment with the Psionic Monk (warlock based) class: http://www.enworld.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=27543 This is what the Monk class should have been! It has the feel and flavor of the mystical legendary far eastern monk with easy and interesting mechanics that allow for a great deal of versatility. It also can keep up at higher levels - something the core monk class sometimes has trouble doing. The Awakened [Strike] technique "Ki Projection" is almost what you are looking for, as it is in effect a ranged use of ki enhanced unarmed strike with a range increment of 5 ft. That would allow for a strike as far away as 55 ft (albeit at a penalty of -20 at that distance). It is not quite what you wanted, but it is close - and available more or less at will at level 6 if you happen to take that [strike] technique as your first Awakened technique. While it would have a rather short distance, it could be used once a turn at will rather than limited by how many stunning fists you have available and needing two feats (Fiery Fist and Ki Blast - and also Stunning Fist and Improved Unarmed Strike, but you get those two as a monk anyway). The feat in PHB2 requires both of these feats, and it uses up two uses of Stunning fist each time it is used - with the ball of ki dissipating harmlessly and still using up the two Stunning fists usages anyway if it is not thrown within one round of creation. Also, its damage is not based upon unarmed strike damage but instead deals 3d6 + Wis. [/Edit]
