Killing Trolls

If you have a torch, could you use it's d3 fire damage to beat it to death?
Could someone point me to the rules on torch damage. I cannot find anything for torches, let alone that it does fire damage.

I don't see any problem with treating a flask of oil or alchemist's fire as a melee weapon for this purpose. You're not throwing it at the troll in this case, after all ...
Perhaps not the burning oil, but you should throw the alchemist's fire if you don't want to get burned. Even so, I don't see these as melee weapons for the purpose of CdG. I would not allow this. It also makes regeneration just a bit of a hassle rather than a formidable ability. Trolls are supposed to strike fear into the heart of adventurers, after all.

Have the party rogue sneak attack with a burning torch on the subdued troll, the sneak attack damage counts as the same type of damage as the underlying attack, so the xd6 will be fire damage.
Are you sure? I thought this was for weapon-like spells, not torches. Also, again, where do I find the rules for torches and their damage?

Pouring oil and lighting it is considered a CDG. It was discussed before (on here and Wizards) and eventually an e-mail from Skip was posted that said so.

Personally we just beat the living p*ss out of it and drop an alchemists fire on it. 1d6 real damage/ round will kill it. Usually they don't get up, but if they do just knock them down again (they have at best 5 hps and are prone while burning).
Multiple alch fires do the trick if you can't stick around, as do a few acid arrows.
Otherwise a bonfire works (bonfires do more than a mere 1d3 a round- can't remember the exact damage).
You can't really CDG them in anyway, unless you've got a flameblade or something similar (which works better than anything). Flaming sphere planted on them works very well also.
