The ratings haven't been good for Kingdom Hospital, and I don't think even the Keepers of the Kingdom can get the show out of it. ABC has given up and moved Kingdom Hospital from Wednesdays to Thursdays in a suicide slot against CSI on CBS and The Apprentice on NBC: http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/30/television.kingdom.reut/ From what I've been reading, Kingdom Hospital was never intended to be a new series but a 15 hour extended miniseries, which probably explains why ABC isn't fighting to save it. It's a shame because it's really starting to pick up plot wise. Perhaps it would have been better if it were shorter and followed the traditional miniseries patern of consecutive nights for a few days. Or as a SciFi miniseries (ala Taken) or a kick off for the soon to be Horror cable channel. It has made me think about my own TV viewing habits. I haven't watched a show on the three major networks faithfully in almost three years (I was surprised to learn Frasier was even still on when they announced this was the last year, and burnt out on Friends long ago). Most of what I watch is on the up and coming networks like the WB and UPN (Enterprise, Smallville), Comedy Central, Sci Fi, YES during baseball season and the various movie channels (and Sunday night is always HBO night). I'm not a fan of reality TV so I don't watch a lot of the major networks or Fox. It's interesting to me that the major networks and their three way competition is still the focus. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I miss the days when these things were settled with a Battle of the Network Stars. :)
