Thanks. We're using the deck of story cards sold by (Paizo, I think?), and one of the players played a card that had the option "You find an easier route" on it when they were discussing how they were going to get into the fort (they detected it before the guards saw them). I allowed the player's character to find the entrance to the secret trapdoor inside the compound with this card, which the PCs used the enter the fort at night. They badly blew their chance to open the trapdoor with stealth (stealth check of 2) so the bandits on guard immediately heard the trapdoor open and a pair of them came to investigate. The first PC they encountered was the bard (on his way up the stairs to a platform), who charmed one of them and used bluff to buffalo the other one into thinking he was a friend of the first bandit and bringing "new recruits" to meet the Stag Lord (the party wasn't actually sure this was the Stag Lord's fort, but they had a hunch). The charmed bandit (Jex the Snitch, it turns out) affirmed that the bard was in fact his friend and called off the alarm as the PCs ascended the platform. Before much conversation could be had, Dovan arrived with a handful of other bandits, having decided to check on the "friend" that Jex claimed had arrived with "reinforcements". We broke at that point as two players were absent and it looked like a big combat might be close at hand.
