This is all Robbert Raets fault. I kinda cheeted and allowed a creature to be bodaked at below 5 hit dice. I still find them rather amusing. Flif: Yes, but some things just don't work well that way. Jell-o of Death is just not intimidating. Chittering Dark (Dire Squirrel + Bodak) Small Undead HD: 1d12 (6) Initiative: +6 (Dex) Speed: 20 ft, Climb 20 ft AC: 21 (+1 Size, +6 Dex, +4 Natural) Attacks: Bite +7 melee Damage: Bite 1d4 Special Attack: Death Gaze Special Quality: Damage Reduction 15/silver, Darkvision 60’, Energy Resistance, Flashbacks, Scent, Sunlight Vulnerability, Undead Saves: Fort +2, Ref +8, Will +2 Abilities: Str 10, Dex 22, Con -, Int 1, Wis 14, Cha 10 Skills: Climb +18, Hide +17, Move Silently +14, Listen +10 Feats: Weapon Finesse (bite) Climate/Terrain: Warm and temperate mountains Organization: Solitary Challenge Rating: 4 Treasure: Standard or gang (2-4) Alignment: Often Neutral Good Advancement: 2-4 HD (Medium) The Chittering Dark were created long ago, when a horde of demons laid waste to an entire forest to get at one elder druid. The squirrels of the forest rose up, and became as the bodak. They have pale grey fleshless flesh, and their faces look as though they have been twisted by madness. Their eyes are bulging yellow orbs, and their mouths constantly chitter, as they did in life, but incessantly. The Chittering Dark moves from forest to forest, killing the entire squirrel population in each one, as well as several other animals, and slowly raising an army of bodak forest animals. Combat Death Gaze is the only form of attack the Chittering Dark uses. Damage Reduction (Su): A Chittering Dark ignores 15 points of damage from most weapons and natural attacks; the wounds heal immediately. A silver weapon deals full damage. Death Gaze (Su): A Chittering Dark’s gaze brings death. A fortitude save DC 10 negates. It has a range of 30 feet. Any corporeal creature (except constructs, plants, oozes, and undead) slain by this gaze become bodaks in one day. Energy Resistance (Ex): A Chittering Dark is immune to electricity and ignores the first 20 points of acid and fire damage. Flashbacks (Ex): From time to time a Chittering Dark sees something that reminds it of its almost-forgotten life. At the start of every encounter, there is a 5% chance that it notices something about an opponent (randomly determined, if more than one opponent is present) that causes it to recall its life. If this happens, the Chittering Dark takes no action for 1 round and thereafter suffers a –2 morale penalty to attacks directed at that opponent. Sunlight Vulnerability (Ex): Chittering Darks loathe sunlight, for its merest touch burns their impure flesh. Each round of exposure to the direct rays of the sun deals 1 point of damage to the bodak creature. Undead: Immune to mind-influencing effects, poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, and disease. Not subject to critical hits, subdual damage, ability damage, energy drain, or death from massive damage. Skills: *Chittering Darks receive a +4 racial bonus to Hide, Move Silently & Climb checks. They add their Dex modifier to Climb checks rather than Str.
