He spent his childhood in some of their great cities buried deep in the woods west of the mountains, isolated from the rest of the world. That is, until Kaijia was 20. It was then that this peace was broken as a blood feud older then any can remember re-erupted and the orks from the mountains laid siege to his precious homeland. The elves were unprepared, thinking that the orks could not possibly have regrouped from their last confrontation. But they forgot that one elven generation was two or three orkish generations and the orks were back in full force. The war was swift and hard on the elves. They were pushed from their ancestral home and dispersed farther west into unknown lands. Kaijia's family was among the casualties and he was left an orphan. Knowing that he could not take his revenge against an entire army of orks alone, he took to living in the shadows and using his wit to trip up orks and find them unawares one or two at a time. He did not know where to find more elves, they had dispersed by now like feathers in the wind. He knew not what lied to the west, but he knew to the east there were orks. And so, he followed them. Kaijia crossed the mountains and into new lands intent on resuming his crusade against the marauders. But this time things were different. The land was inhabitted. These 'humans' as they called themselves were everywhere, fighting amongst themselves and scoffing at his pointy ears. He had never head of humans before. And from what he could gather, the humans had no notion of him except for a few who mentioned fairytales told to children. Another thing Kaijia quickly learned was that his magic was not tolerated in these lands. Between his ears and his spellbook, he suffered a beating at the hands of more then one hateful human. Now, Kaijia was not up on human politics and did not know why these men wanted to go to this rather desolate land. But he knew one thing: They were going there to battle orks. The orks had shifted targets in these last years and now were attacking men instead of elves. Ork blood was in Karatsu, waiting to be spilled. And Kaijia was not going to miss this opportunity. He packed what few belongings he owned and presented himself to Lord Oe on bended knee, pleading for a place in the expedition. He demonstrated that he was well versed with a blade, even if he wasn't a soldier by trade and he explained that he could fight from the shadows, and move like the wind at night. In the end, Lord Oe could not turn down this strange, skinny, foreigner. His heart was where it needed to be.
