Games Plus gets in some of the neatest miniatures. While there, I came across the new Rusted Heroes line. One of the figures was Kru'Gain, the Black Inquisitor for the new game line, Rusted Heroes. It's in the classical, "You!" pose. This is where the figure has a weapon in one hand and is pointing with the other. For a classic example, my favorite is probably the old Rafm's Blood Leiutanent A simple two piece casting, figure and base. Strangely enough, despite this not being a dynamic pose, the figure comes with head, hands, and base seperated. When I say it's not in a dynamic pose, I mean it. One hand outstretched to point, one arm straight down. Head, left hand pointing, right hand holding a sword, figure to base. Still, not a big deal right? Wrong! The left hand, the pointing one, has a flat hand. That wouldnt' be a problem but the robed arm ends in a knob. Like it's supposed to go into a slot or hole. So then you've got to cut the knob off. And because that still doesn't give you the best fit, you've got to pin. Next up, the head. It's like the figure is a nice 28mm figure, and the head is for a true 25mm figure character. It's just off looking. That right arm? While it does have a slot for the knob, it's so close to the pistol that it's difficult to 'snap' into place and once again, you're better off pinning it. And the figure to the base? Way to overcase the metal slot there. Popped it in and went to put the figure down and hey, guess what? Too much metal. Figure will not stand properly so had to snip that down as well. The figure though, has some nice subtle curvings and carvings on the robe. The armor is relatively simple and it's final appearance is intimidating. There wasn't much flash on the figure and no mold lines were visible. If you don't mind a figure that's a PIA to put together, the Black Inquisitor may be for you. If you don't like lots of gluing and pinning, skip this one.
