He nearly fumbles his own blade when he is forced to step over his fellow mercenary's dropped weapon.</p><p></p><p>Zenpher stabs out at the man as he rushes by and scores a deep cut on the man's thigh.</p><p></p><p>Then, the fight becomes more complicated. Two men dressed in Loyalist colours burst out of the old house. One of them moves up the narrow street towards both Big Tim and Falen. He moves next to the dwarf and glares at Falen in his disguise as young Mr. Aceron.</p><p></p><p>"Leave the knight to me," the dwarf insists and the rogue nods.</p><p></p><p>The other thuggish rogue moves towards the fray, stops and aims with a hand crossbow, and fires a bolt at the Regulars. The bolt is nearly a head shot, but it dings off the guard's helmet... denting it.</p><p></p><p>The guard moves towards the battle quickly while the other guard takes only a single step. At the last moment, Petronille senses that something is wrong. She glances back to see that the Regular is swinging his halberd around at her. She manages to spin and prepare for the blow, but she can't avoid it completely. The weapon slices into her shoulder.</p><p></p><p>The guard's visage changes and the creature in front of her is a strange mixture of doppelganger and Regular. It's laughter is as hollow as its facial features.</p><p></p><p><strong>"Doppelganger!"</strong> She yells.</p><p></p><p>The <em>doppelguard</em> makes a strange hissing sound like metal being scraped on metal. It drops the halberd and quickly draws its short sword in a flash.</p><p></p><p>The other Regular turns to look back in horror. "It... it cannot be...
