The Fall and Rebirth of Loghan Halonnan The former Baron of the City of Halonnan troubled life nearly came to an end due to the events of The Transformation. His bitterness regarding losing Ahdina to Lord Dann Khilman soon became horrible guilt and anguish after Dann was killed defending Ahamudia. Loghan witnessed firsthand how the death of her husband nearly destroyed her, and it broke his heart. He pleaded to the Gods of Ahamudia but they would not forgive him or return Dann back to life. Broken in spirit and without his faith, Loghan through himself form the walls of the city named after his clan. His half-broken body was brought to Eberal where every cleric worked tirelessly to save his life When King Khalen appeared at his bedside while he laid dying, Loghan confessed his anger and sorrow and begged the king to forgive him. “Pardon my hated, my great king! I beg your forgiveness for my cold heart and shallow soul. The Gods have abandoned me and your love is the only immortality I will ever need now!” The King was deeply moved by the dying man's words, and he gave his forgiveness for the man's sins and worries freely. He insisted that the Baron be given the best care, “no matter what the price to paid.” The King's words lifted the Baron's heart and spirit, and he rejoiced for all to hear. “Today I have a brother and father as well as a King!” No one gave the man any hope to live. The clergy of the churches could not heal his wounds as the Gods of Ahamudia did indeed forsake him; however, Loghan Halonnan would survive due the intervention of the New Gods. As the war against the Empire of Swords progressed, Ahamudia found many allies to help defend its borders against the Imperials. This included a group of sky knights — elite paladins — from the distant island Kingdom of Navirosov. These powerful holy warriors tended to the fallen Baron and taught him the ways of the New Gods. With there help, he healed quickly in body and spirit. He would lead a combined army of mixed elves, Bitran gnomes and dwarves, sky rider paladins, and local militia northwest into the lands of the Sword Imperium to deal with the Imperials and their vicious Emperor. “I’m going to gut this fat, small-minded Emperor for what he’s done to our people. Here we are, strangers in a new land, and all he wants to do is conquer us. I’m not going to have this little toad for a neighbor.” He leads this Northern Army to victory and witnesses firsthand the power of the New Gods when an Avatar of Cronn appears on the battlefield along with an army of celestials to protect the mortals from a horde of demons unleashed by the Last Emperor and his demonic-worshiping minions. Loghan becomes the first of his people to convert to the worship of the New Gods as a result, and he chooses Cronn as his patron deity. He is both a cleric and a holy warrior (sentinel class from Dragon Magazine), and is the spiritual leader of the New Gods in the Kingdom of Ahamudia. He no longer trusts the Gods of his homeland, but he will not persecute its faithful members. His marriage to Ahdina was her idea (he did not pursue her) as she quickly fell in love with the man he became while defending their new home. He now rules Ahamudia by her side as her equal and has adopted her two children. However, he insisted they keep their father's name as a tribute to a man who was better than he.
