THE CITY-STATE OF KORVOSA I recently bought a copy of Paizo's Guide to Korvosa, which is part of the Pathfinder Chronicles series. I didn't buy it for the Pathfinder world; although, I'm likely to buy the Pathfinder Gazetteer. No, I've decided to incorporate Korvosa into the Lands of Harqual as a Transformation city. I've already placed it on my map of the continent in the Far South. It sits just on the edge of the continent's southern shore between the City-state of Christopherson to the west and the evil ruins of Hathenmoor to the east. It was a lucky break finding a open spot for it anywhere in the Lands of Harqual. It just goes to prove (to myself) that I haven't mapped every mile of my favorite continent for the World of Kulan. ;) Anyway, the city-state will go through some major changes as a Transformation city, and I've listed a few of the more important ones below. 1) First of all, as a Transformation city, my Korvosa won't have the exact population figures and power structure as in the guide. The Transformation, a magical conjunction, wrought many changes throughout the Lands of Harqual during 749 N.C., and the citizens of Korvosa sufferd through some of the worst effects of the magical mist as it pulled Korvosa's essence from Golarion and duplicated it on Harqual. Around 4% of the city-state's original population weren't duplicated on Kulan. Around 2% of the population were duplicated as simulacrums, but many of these false people went unnoticed in chaos that followed the event. The most notable citizens not duplicated are listed below:

Tauk Par
Perishial Kalissreavil
Marlessa
And the following citizens were duplicated as simulacrums:

Vencarlo Orisini
Sabina Merrin
2) The Chaos

a.) Many of the magical wards of the Acadamae were either dispelled or erupted (violently). As a result, several of the Acadamae's buildings were destroyed and many of its denizens were killed. The Hall of Induction imploded.
b.) The Temple of Asmodeus was razed to the ground in the aftermath of The Transformation. It's clergy have been outlawed in the city-state (along with the members of the Order of the Nail), but they still work behind the scenes to try to control Korvosa. Note that Asmodeus is only an archdevil in the Mirrored Cosmology, not a god.
c.) Many forms of undead poured out of the Gray in the first few hours after The Tranformation. Most of these undead were put down by the Korvosan Guard and the Sable Company. Others escaped the city and now roam the Far South.
As a result of these three events, several important NPCs were killed in the resulting chaos. Here is a list of those NPCs as presented in the guide:

Toff Ornelos
Touran Palastus
Ornher Reebs
Vaultmaster Bahasaran
3) The city-state is rotated slightly form its normal compass directions. North is now northwest on the map of the city. 4) Many native Harqualians have been drawn towards the new city-state over the last few years, which has increased Korvosas' population by about 1%. 5) Only one of Korvosa's vassal communities was duplicated on Harqual, and it was, unfortunately, duplicated out at sea. The ruins of Veldraine sit half submerged on a sand bar surrounded by strange magic-touched reefs as well as rocks jutting from the sea. A mist surrounds Caer Veldraine almost constantly. 6) Eight years have passed on Harqual since the Transformation; therefore, that much time has passed for the citizens of Korvosa. The current year on the Golarion calendar is 4,716. This calendar is still used in the city-state, but its citizens are often forced to use the New Calendar of Harqual when dealing with outsiders (the current year on that calendar is now 757 N.C.). Note: As a result of the timeline shift, I will be increasing the levels of all the remaining NPCs by two for those with PC classes and by one for those with only NPC classes. 7) Most of the citizens of Korvosa are content to stay on Harqual. Some have left for the outer planes to seek Golarion. None of the current citizenry know that they're duplicates of the original citizens of Korvosa. Most believe they were the lucky ones that survived a magical conjunction that teleported their city to a new world. Only the wisest in the city-state know that Korvosa still exists on Golarion, and their not in a hurry to tell anyone. So far, that's all I have. As I continue reading the guide, I'll likely find more diabolical things to do to the City-state of Korvosa.
