LGGC Rocks! LGGC is great! Man, I wish I could make it again this year, but I'm going to have to settle for Gen Con. Yeah, I do prefer the small and intimate setting. Allow me to give you folks a rundown of some of the things I did: * Hung out on Gary's porch, drank some beers and talked shop. Gary made his famous spicy beans, and they went down great with the beer and some 'brats. Not to be forgotten is Gary's lovely wife Gail -- a wonderful hostess and quite a character! * Went to the LGGC, talked shop with Rob Kuntz for a while. * Played a game of Jasmine with Darlene. * Spoke with Frank Mentzer for a while, who took a look at the maps of a module I was working on at the time and gave me some wonderful insights. * Got to meet all the Trolls and check out Peter Bradley's prints up close. * Ran a pick-up game of C&C. I saw an empty table. I had some dice, some books, and 25 years of DMing experience, so I found some like-minded souls and threw together an improv game -- we had a blast! * Played a game of Lejendary Adventure on Gary's porch. I fondly remember being the first person to say something when danger presented. I looked at Gary and said, "I cast a spell!" That was awesome. * Took a tour about the Lake Geneva area, taking in all the sites -- and the restaurants are excellent, especially breakfast! * Got my DM's guide signed by Kuntz and Mentzer. Darlene signed it also, and she sketched an Egyptian goddess in it as well. I got Gary to sign it and had him draw me a pole-arm, which he was quite happy to do, because he knows a thing or two about them! ;) * Observed a game of Chainmail played by members of the original Castle & Crusade Society -- Gary Gygax, Jeff Perren, Ernie Gygax, Rob Kuntz, and some of their dear fellows whose names escape me. They re-enacted the siege of the moathouse (T-1) and I think Gary was double-crossed by a treant hiding in a copse of trees. Paul Stormberg did a wonderful job putting it all together -- nice guy, that Paul. * Bought books, walked around, chatted with Tom Wham, Ernie Gyagx, and many others. I saw the biggest damn Greyhawk map in the world. It was an amazing time! --Jeff T.
