Wormwood, when I actually wrote my concerns out, everything made a lot more sense. I guess I was still thinking in 3e terms. In 3e, there is an option for ANY colored dragon and ANY level (for the most part). In 4e, it looks like the dragons will be spread across the player Tier (heroic, paragon, epic), based on color. So far, we have a level 3 White and a level 4 Black. I assume that Green, Blue, and Red will follow. Perhaps we'll see a progression like this: Heroic (all large creatures): Young White (level 3) Young Black (level 4) Young Green (level 6) Young Blue (level 8) Young Red (level 10) Paragon (all huge creatures): Adult White (level 12) Adult Black (level 14) Adult Green (level 16) Adult Blue (level 18) Adult Red (level 20) Epic (all gargantuan creatures): Elder White ( level 22) Elder Black (level 24) Elder Green (level 26) Elder Blue (level 28) Elder Red (level 30) This is waaaaaay easier than what the 3e MM had, however, it kind of pigeon hole's a dragon to a specific level. I can see a 15th level party catching wind that a scaly beast lairs in a near by cavern, and thinking: "Gotta be green, blue, or red b/c we've already passed white and black in level". THAT I don't like... but oh well :)
