Leader ship, folowers and alignment

I haven't read the leadership rules thoroughly or reccently so bare with me... If you have some kobolds or goblins as followers (perhaps nott by choice) even though you are a good person. And they say...get slaughtered through your negligence. Would your next bunch of followers (This time chosen) care about that? Or do they think they will get the same treatment?

What if they don't know of their death (assuming this time that the first set of followers were good)?

I've always belived the deaths of followers to have an almost a cosmic/karma like effect on their master. The next batch of followers might not have any concreate reason not to trust you, they just get an inexplicable "bad vibe" which IMO is reason enough not to follow you down dungon hacking.

I don't think that karma would hold up as a reason, atleast not the way I'd like it to be played (as it looks like an excuse not to change/add rules).

Thanks anyway :)

Not that I'm dissing karma, it's one of the few religious things I believe in

In the first case, I don't know that followers you don't want count against your leadership quota... sounds like you're well into houserules territory already.

In the second case, well, where did they go? ;) Seriously, if you are hoping to take advantage of any of the reputation modifiers, you accept them all. If you have a base of operations, and you lost followers, everyone who knows about your base knows about your followers. Secondarily, if you lie about your previous followers, your grasp on your followers is very tenuous... each time you went into a situation where people knew your previous followers, or knew what had happened for you to lose them, there would be a chance that followers would find out the truth. I leave it to the rat bastard DM hiding in all of you to realize what could happen when one's followers stop following without the leader realizing it...
