Message: <blockquote data-quote="Calico_Jack73" data-source="post: 1466459" data-attributes="member: 14403">I've got a question that hopefully some of the more legal minded folks who visit ENWorld can answer regarding PDF copies of books.I just recently bought a copy of the Midnight Campaign setting and I LOVE IT!  However, I've since found out that there has been a BIG problem with the binding and that most of the books start losing their pages after in some cases only a few hours of reading.  I can tell that my new book will be going that way, some pages when open split all the way to the glue.Now, I know that going onto a File Sharing system and downloading a PDF copy of a book that I don't own a paper version of is illegal.  What about downloading a PDF of a book that I do own a paper copy of?  I'd imagine that it is like buying a music CD... once I buy the CD I can turn the music into any format that I like be it tape or MP3 as long as it is for personal use and I don't distribute copies.  It would't be any different than if I wait for my book to fall apart and then scan the pages myself except that someone else has already done the work for me.  I've been thinking about logging into a unnamed file sharing program to see if I can pick up Midnight in PDF form but I wanted to check first. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f615.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":confused:" title="Confused    :confused:"  data-smilie="5"data-shortname=":confused:" /></blockquote>
