I'd say Yes ("Her options for new forms include all creatures with the animal type."), No (it's not on the list, you could edit the list with your DM to include it.), and No (same as last one.).

I thought legendary was a temple, but maybe I'm recalling incorrectly. If it is a template, then that is not an option. Also, remember that the druid must be familiar with the animal.

I'll bite. Why?

I understand that some templates change the type, which would disallow them.

To my knowledge, legendary is like dire, it's too subjective to get a template.

Well, "A creature cannot use alternate form to take the form of a creature with a template." And, if you don't use the errata and still use polymorph, which is based on alter self: "You cannot take the form of any creature with a template, even if that template doesn’t change the creature type or subtype."

But, legendary may not be a template. The 3.5 update booklet seems to imply it's not.

Well, in 3.0 you could have legendary animals as animal companions; but, then again, a druid's animal companion (gained via the 3.0 spell animal friendship) wasn't a distinct class ability that grew in power as they gained levels.

It's not a template. The Legendary creatures were in MMII, I believe - they're like dire creatures, just stronger, but WotC never provided a template for it. I think this is more a case of, if your DM allows it, you can wild shape into a legendary animal.
